What I did on Deficio

Role : Game Designer | Level Designer | Programmer

  • Programmed the teleport core mechanic &  a launch power system with thresholds
  • Created a dynamic UI layer linked to the player’s throwing power
  • Used a CAD software to design/synthesize the level ( Separated into layers in LibreCAD )
  • Did the blockmeshing of the prototype, with 3D self-made textured props
  • Cared about player orientation in space while blockmeshing
  • Created a destructible glass object ( Destroying itself in pieces when touched )
  •  Did stream the project’s development on Twitch
The prototype's level

What is Deficio ?

Deficio is a First person platform prototype, where the player can throw a cube, with various strenghts, that allows him to teleport at the cube’s position.

Some examples of what's in the prototype !

Intentions / Others

Building a level around a mechanic

This prototype was an opportunity to get better  at building a level around a specific mechanic, such as the teleporter.

I really wanted to design a level with strong intentions like freedom of movement, different possibilities/paths, a feeling of vertigo

I also wanted to add variety by introducing this destructible glass material, that illustrate my will about making this throw mechanic a way to move in space AND interact with content in it !
